Zagreb Crafts Shop is the first crafts shop in Zagreb and the only one in Croatia that offers unique handicrafts from Zagreb and Zagreb County in one place. It was opened on Tuesday in the Passage of the Zagreb Crafts Chamber.
By opening this exhibition space in an attractive location, in the center of town, craftsmen from Zagreb and Zagreb County, except the Zagreb Crafts digital platform, are also presented and united in the Zagreb Crafts shop. Tourists and citizens in this way have an overview of craftsmanship and unique design of materials and handicrafts. A specialty shop is the only one of its kind in Zagreb, enriching the tourist offer of Zagreb and the entire county.
“Zagreb Crafts Shop is open for the promotion and popularization of traditional art crafts. Having its own exhibition center in the center of the Croatian metropolis for every craftsman individually, especially for those who work outside of Zagreb, would be an impossible mission. In this way, it is more available and much closer to customers. Given the quality and uniqueness of the product, the interest that the government has, as well as the number of craftsmen who want to exhibit and sell, we believe that Zagreb Crafts Shop will be expanding rapidly”, said Mirza Šabić, chairman of the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts.
“We are the craftsmen who have the opportunity to show their products in the center of the city. This is an opportunity that must not be missed. It is very important for our further work so that all the inhabitants of Zagreb as well as the tourists see what we do individually in our small workshops. I hope we will get more stores like this, all over Croatia, “said Goran Maretić-Martini, Zagreb artist and owner of StrAngels brand.
“The products we offer”, as he adds, “are characterized by high aesthetics and creative solutions, among them unique jewellery, handbags, wallets, souvenirs with Zagreb motifs, floral decorations, hand-stitched notebooks, ornaments and numerous other handicrafts. This is really a unique project and it will take a while for us to fully experience it but we believe it will be a true success and will at the same time further enrich Zagreb’s tourist offer. Not to forget to mention that it is entirely focused on Croatian products, traditionally and artistically. The best evidence is perhaps the fact that we are already thinking of a larger sales space”, concluded the president of the Zagreb Craftsman Antun Trojnar.
The project has been created upon the example of a successful bilingual digital platform, Zagreb Crafts. Through this platform, more than 100 craftsmen offer online shopping with their valuable products on sale, which will now be available to the citizens of Zagreb as well as to numerous tourists, located in Ilica 49 in the passage.
