When looking for different metal parts or items these days, large retail stores are the first stop, but so very often it happens that we end up not finding what we’re looking for.
For example, if you need a metal clothes drier made from quality metal, weld and custom-made to match the wall you plan on installing it on, after a long and tedious search you’ll come to the conclusion that what you need is someone in between a locksmith, blacksmith and an iron worker.
As far as Zagreb’s crafts scene is concerned, there used to be plenty of metal experts to help you, which is why today we hold the few remaining metal crafts in even higher regard.

In the Zagreb Crafts catalogue you’ll find Zlatko Tkalčević and his Metaloplast, a craft specialised in producing items made from plastics and metal. His expertise includes producing household and industrial items, while constant investment in machines enables him to produce a wide range of products. “I believe that an individual approach and constant investment in production prove that we are a reliable partner and supplier of plastic and metal products”, Zlatko Tkalčević says. The craft produces all kinds of household items such as hangers, curtains and custom-made furniture handles.

Spring production craft Jatić is a metal craft specialised in spring used by the construction or automobile industry, while their products are needed for making devices such as swings and trampolines.
With more than 27 years of experience in her family craft, Alma Jatić-Hasanbegović holds the reins when it comes to running the business, contrary to prejudice about women in a line of work dominated by men.
Igor Paneković is a self-taught blacksmith who started the craft Arteferrum to pursue his long-standing passion for iron. He forges metal in his workshop in a traditional way and you can always turn to him to help you by making iron household items or details. As we have already written

Igor Paneković is the one who made the unique door at Rovinj’s Monte Mulini, one of the world’s best hotels. In addition to that, the next time you go to Zagreb’s Tesla café, be sure to pay attention to the chairs, iron motor and interior details because this blacksmith who likes to keep to himself takes the credit.

He primarily deals with creative furniture items made from metal so be sure to memorise the name Arteferrum if you’re into one-of-a-kind industrial pieces.
