The warmth of the home is provided by details, so choose for yourself and your loved ones those details which are made with love and care. The tested places where you can find useful or exclusive decorative items are always small craft and art workshops. Today we are presenting two of such workshops to you.
Sculptor and designer Danijela Halužan Glumbić turned her love and need for artistic expression into useful and decorative ceramics items, which she herself creates in her ART HD in Zagreb. Danijela uses special techniques that she combines with glass, worn wooden pieces or copper wire. Her collections of useful ceramics such as bowls, watches, vases, lamps are all distinctive and characterized by distinct colours, vibrancy and irregularity in shape. And Danijela’s decorative items have a unique stamp and distinctiveness like the original figurines of cats.
I have a lot of ideas that I get from everyday life and almost everything I see and notice. It all starts with some fascination, then it translates into an idea and ultimately into a material and tangible object.

The sculptress often exhibits at exhibitions as well as fairs, so she has gained a circle of regular customers who order her works quite often. “I make both large and small items, so many people order something from me as a gift or for their own household when they want the original item. Even when creating by order, I respect the desire of the customer, but also I respect my sensibility, and there is always my distinctive stamp in everything I make”, says Danijela, and adds that tourists buy her works more and more.
Lidija Likar in her craft shop Litkica makes by hands lots of various and useful ceramic objects. She also paints on canvas with acrylic paints and makes wooden magnets with hand-printed messages.
“My father used to make wooden beds and this is where I came to know wood as a medium for shaping, but since I couldn’t express my creativity in making those beds, I turned to clay while my brother continued our father’s business”, says Lidija. She also reveals that tourists adore her products.
I also have my regular customers, but tourists still prevail, because they recognize that these are genuine handmade items.

“In addition to magnets, sheep, sailors and similar, they are also happy to buy and carry home some watches which are larger in size. They also like to buy mugs. Mugs were particularly popular this summer, and I didn’t even put the name of the city on them, but instead I used one special glaze that made these mugs incredibly vibrant in colour and you could see they were handmade. Tourists are always happy to buy souvenirs with motifs of Zagreb”, says Lidija.
