During the production of jewellery she combines the paracord and nautical rope, which sometimes she dyes with acrylic paints or sometimes combines with semiprecious stones. “Materials I use are of European origin. The paracord is produced in Ukraine, the nautical rope is German production (LIROS), whereas the rope that I use for earrins is produced in Slovenia,” Silvija explains the origin of raw materials for her not ordinary jewels.

“Ninety nine percent of knots I knit are authentic, and all are originals because I conceived them myself. Sometimes, I make a necklase in the classical macrame pattern, and certainly incorporated in the recognizable Nott.ordinary design,” she emphasises. The process of production of a piece of jewellery, especially of earrings, tends to be rather demanding. During the production of earrings, achieving symmetry is most difficult given that this is manual making, and the additional challenge is that they have to be specular. She says that LINE necklases are also custom made since two can never be completely identical. She adjusts the knots to the shape of a necklace and symmetry so that they are always at different places.

Her jewellery possesses a personalised impression and recognisability, and whoever buys it, they are wearing a unique piece. Each piece of jewellery has a wing, which has become a trademark of the Nott.OrdinaryJewelz brand, and a card with two quotes that Silvija cherishes as much valuable: “We are, each of us, angels with only one wing; and we can only fly by embracing one another” by Luciano de Crescenzo and “It’s not where you go, it’s who you meet along the way” from Wizard of Oz. “That is something that leads me through life, with that wing as the symbol of my freedom when I started doing what I truly enjoy – and by giving that one wing to every buyer, I have feeling as if I was giving them a bit of experience of that freedom that we all deserve,” Silvija Talan concludes.
