Traditional 54th Craftsmen day had happened. For this occasion, honours were given to craftsmen who, through their dedication and work in craftsmanship, contributed to the reputation and promotion of craft trades.
Prizes were awarded in five categories:
In the category of Golden Craft Award, among the receivers of the awards, is the ‘licitar’ (traditional Croatian souvenir) craft of Tomica Marica, founded in 1965. The award was received by Ljiljana Milla, who continued the job as a member of the third generation of the family which makes licitars. Ljiljana reveals that one of the mysterious secrets of longevity of their crafts is their family recipe for making licitar hearts, horses, babies and ornamental pearls that last for 10 to 15 years if they are protected from moisture and physical damage. Ljiljana also says that she is very satisfied how the job is currently functioning, but of course she is also thinking about expanding the capacity, and for the future she hopes that her sons will be included in the work and will help in preserving the family tradition.
In the category of Platinum Craft Award is the shoemaker Damir Korman. His father Josip Korman started the tradition of his famous family craft ‘Shoes Korman’ in 1973 in Petrinjska 29. Damir overtakes his family business in 1990 and continues in his father’s footsteps. Those were very challenging times. Damir Korman says that he is very happy about his award, and he answers the question of how has he been able to survive in this business for so long with: “I have spent thirty years in the workshop, every day for 12 hours a day and this is in short the formula of my success. At times when it was difficult I thought about my kids and continued to go on”. Korman says that his children are not planning to continue their family business because they have completed their universities and they have their own areas of interest.
In the category of Golden Craft Award, the awards were given to Silvio Lončarić who was awarded for a family leatherwork tradition for ‘The Lion Holsters Craft’ and Tomislav Petković for ‘KoArt Leather Craft’.

The company makes other items as well, according to the orders and wishes of their clients. They had the opportunity to work with Harley Davidson’s unique engraved seatbelt seats and luxury kits for weaponry and replica equipment for alkars. The secret of their success are quality handmade products that are specially crafted and decorated, and that is what makes them so recognizable and successful.
Tomislav Petković is a representative of the third generation of family leather business, so in 1995 he decided to open KoArt. They offer a complete service to the customer, from the idea to the finished product. The craft KoArt has made a “custom-made” t-shirt recently.
