“After I completed my master leather craftsman training and started running the craft business independently, I have expanded my horizons and indulged in the ideas that came rushing in, unprompted, and which have so far proved to be successful,” relates Miljenko Vuk, the person behind the successful operation of the Vuk Leather shop.
“Before the market opened to imports, we worked on a lot of fashion programs for big department stores, and when the times changed, we began devising new methods of making high quality leather products,” explains Vuk and highlights the constant of the Vuk Leather production – tool bags: “We are the best in Croatia both in terms of the quality of material and tool bag models, which is evident from a large number of satisfied customers.”
They have become recognized over the years for business accessories, and their wide array of products features, for example, leather menu covers in various combinations, for which they have become known in the tourist industry.
“We annually produce over three thousand leather menu covers in numerous combinations,” says Vuk, pointing to yet another section of their shop – creative women’s and men’s business briefcases designed by his wife Ana Dorotić.
“The combination of my wife’s design and our production has resulted in a successful Croatian product that has turned out to be a real hit because people constantly come back to our shop. Apart from briefcases, we also offer tablet bags, book keeper bags, simple tablet covers, or backpacks,” he explains.
In 2006 Miljenko Vuk was awarded a silver plaque at the Innovations Fair for devising bags for carrying valuable documentation and money, which drew the attention of the banking sector. His thermos bag for transporting pizzas was also awarded at the Innovations Fair a few years later, but this time with the second prize. The latest innovation is a thermos bag with a plate heater.
“For doing business successfully it is important to monitor the market and always keep in touch with the latest trends,” observes Vuk while stressing that they owe their success to innovation, smaller and high quality production runs, and design.
